Android Apps of the Week! –July 29, 2012
Welcome to another edition of DroidLessons.com’s “Android Apps of the Week!”. The plan is to compile a list of my favorite apps and share them with you on the Sunday of every week. It will give you plenty of time to try out the apps and then also something to look forward to on a weekly basis. It’s always fun to learn about the latest and greatest apps out there. The Android Market (now known as Google Play) has over 400,000 apps and therefore it’s not always easy finding quality apps via the Android Market. My hope is to save you some time by sharing and informing you of the quality apps that I have found over the many months of using and teaching on the Android platform.
So, without further ado, I present to you this week’s edition of “Android Apps of the Week!”.

Grabatron is a really fun game that is simple and yet highly addictive. Both excellent graphics & gameplay. In Grabatron, you take control of a UFO with a retractable claw and destroy the puny humans! Terrorize them anyway you like: Toss them, crush them, abduct them – it’s up to you. Check out the funny trailer for this game below:
Want to check it out for yourself? Just go to the “Play Store” icon on your phone and click the search button and type in “Grabatron”. Install the app and start having some fun! I’ve also included a link to the Android Market Webstore here for those of you that want to install it via the web. [Market Link]
Hide It Pro
By: Anuj Tenani
Have you ever had to lend your Android phone to someone and then hoped that they didn’t look through your image gallery? Maybe they will find some private pictures that you don’t want them to see! That’s where the app “Hide It Pro” can help you out. You can hide Images/Videos/Audio Recordings etc. from the Phone’s stock gallery by selecting all the pics that you want to hide and selecting SHARE. Applications can be hidden from within the Hide it Pro app. The app disguises itself as a Audio Manager app which can be used to turn the volumes up and down. but if you Long press on the Audio Manager title the actual Hide It Pro app will launch.

Digital Embers Live Wallpaper
By: D’Keesto Software
Everyone knows I’m a big fan of Live Wallpapers! I think they make Android phones unique and I’m constantly hunting for new ones to add to my collection. This week I found “Digital Embers Live Wallpaper” and it’s great! Your homescreen will burst to life with a grid that lights up in an electric pattern as you touch it! The multitude of shooting sparks is hypnotic. When you aren’t touching the screen, the digital embers burn with subdued colors.
Give it a try and see how great it looks on your smartphone! In order to activate the wallpaper after installation, you have to go to: Home Screen->Click Menu Button->Wallpapers->Live Wallpapers and then select “Digital Embers Live Wallpaper”. [Market Link]
This one is more of a joke than anything else! With “AutoRap” you can turn anything you say into a rap song. Simply talk into the app, and AutoRap magically morphs your speech into a legit rap. Create your own original rap songs with Freestyle Beats, or use Premium Songs from artists like Snoop Dogg and Nicki Minaj, to AutoRap with the songs you know and love. Give it a try!
