Android Apps of the Week! – June 10, 2012
Welcome to another edition of DroidLessons.com’s “Android Apps of the Week!”. The plan is to compile a list of my favorite apps and share them with you on the Sunday of every week. It will give you plenty of time to try out the apps and then also something to look forward to on a weekly basis. It’s always fun to learn about the latest and greatest apps out there. The Android Market (now known as Google Play) has over 400,000 apps and therefore it’s not always easy finding quality apps via the Android Market. My hope is to save you some time by sharing and informing you of the quality apps that I have found over the many months of using and teaching on the Android platform.
So, without further ado, I present to you this week’s edition of “Android Apps of the Week!”.

One of the most popular games available on Android! Temple Run is an addictively fun game. You’ve stolen the cursed idol from the temple, and now you have to run for your life to escape the Evil Demon Monkeys nipping at your heels. Test your reflexes as you race down ancient temple walls and along sheer cliffs. Swipe to turn, jump and slide to avoid obstacles, collect coins and buy power ups, unlock new characters, and see how far you can run!
Want to check it out for yourself? Just go to the “Play Store” icon on your phone and click the search button and type in “Temple Run”. Install the app and start having some fun! I’ve also included a link to the Android Market Webstore here for those of you that want to install it via the web. [Market Link]
If you want to control your Android smartphone then Widgetsoid is THE tool to have. It provides widgets that are totally customizable. This allows you to create a customized widget (or widgets) to control all sorts of settings, including the usual Wifi, screen brightness and Bluetooth options, as well as toggles for more exotic options like WiMax and tethering. It’s a simple, clean and well-designed widget with plenty of customization options, and what’s more, it’s offered completely free. If you want a little more control over your set of widgets, it’s definitely worth a look. It contains the following widgets:
* 2G/3G (Shortcut to mobile settings)
* 4G (WiMAX for EVO)
* Data (Renaming APN or toggle APN)
* Stay Awake
* Always ON
* Ring mode
* Lock Screen (turn your screen off)
* AND MORE!
Here is a great tutorial on how to use this app:

Bubble Live Wallpaper
As you may already know, I’m a big fan of Live Wallpapers. I think they make Android phones unique and I’m constantly hunting for great ones to add to my collection. This week I found Bubble Live Wallpaper and it is quickly becoming one of my favorite Live Wallpapers. It is a fun bubble live wallpaper where you can tap bubbles to burst them. It is simple yet beautiful.
Give it a try and see how great it looks on your smartphone! In order to activate the wallpaper after installation, you have to go to: Home Screen->Click Menu Button->Wallpapers->Live Wallpapers and then select “Bubble Live Wallpaper”. [Market Link]

I’ve always found it to be painfully difficult to control the different audio settings on my Android devices. Until I found the Audio Manager app! Audio Manager is a home-screen Widget and Volume manager that allows you to get live readings of your current volume levels on your Android phone. Tap on the widget to adjust the volume levels. It makes controlly the audio levels on your Droid extremely simple. Give it a try! [Market Link]
