Video Tutorial: How to create Folders on your Android Home Screen

Finding our favorite Apps on the Android Home Screens can sometimes be difficult. Or sometimes we simply run out of room for all of our Apps! And sifting through all the Apps in the App Drawer isn’t fun either. The best way to organize your Android Home Screens is to create Folders to store your favorite apps. You can create folders to organize your apps into different categories like: Games, Music, Productivity, Social Networks, etc. The nice thing about folders is that they allow you to load your home screens full of apps in a neat and organized way. Watch this video tutorial to learn how you can easily create folders on your Android Home Screen. Please feel free to leave us a comment if you have any questions!

I'm a huge Android fan and also the founder of the DroidLessons website. I started obsessing about the Android platform as soon as I got my HTC EVO phone in mid-2010. Ever since then, I have been obsessed with learning all that I can about the Android OS and sharing that knowledge with my friends and family.

    Just a heads up.
    – You can also create the folder and open the folder,
    – Press the up key (or apps key)
    – Look for app you want, press and hold icon.
    – It will automatically close the apps drawer and place the icon in the folder.
    – Release the icon.

This is just a little faster and saves a step.

Thanks. Is there a way to set up the folder so that after selecting one of the apps the folder itself closes? That way you do not have to click the x to close the folder if that is the default option you prefer.

Where did my “Folder” option go? Running Android 4.0.3 on HTC Raider. When I long press on home screen I get the Personalize screen but the folder option isn’t there. Where did it go?
I can’t seem to make any new folders on my home screens. Help, please, anyone.

never mind. Figured out how to make them now. Simply drag one home screen app icon onto another and the folder will automatically be created with both app icons inside.
