Most Android phones require Root access and/or an app in order to be able to take a screenshot of your phone’s display. Well, that’s no longer the case for the HTC One X! HTC was kind enough to provide the ability to take a screenshot easily without any third-party software! You heard correctly… no root or third-party paid app required. This method is totally free and simple! There are actually two different screenshot methods available for the One X. Just follow the steps below to start taking screen shots on your HTC One X.
Instructions:
Method 1:
1. Hold down the POWER button and then press the HOME button.
2. That’s it! Seriously, it’s that easy! You’ll see a message appear on the screen that says “screenshot saved to Camera shots”. Your screenshot will be in your DCIM (Camera) directory. You can then go to your Gallery app to see the screenshots that you have captured.
Method 2:
1. Hold down the POWER button and then press the VOLUME DOWN button. (hold the buttons for a second or two)
2. That’s it for this method too! You’ll see a message appear on the screen that says “screenshot saved to Camera shots”. With this method, your screenshot will appear in the directory /Pictures/Screenshots. You can also go to your Gallery app to see the screenshots that you have captured.
Now go try it out and start capturing some cool images of your Android screens! Leave us a comment if you have any questions.

I can never do it fast enough that I don’t shut of my screen! everything I’m about to give it I do it but can never repeat it purposely!
Don’t give up! It’s really easy once you get the hang of it. Just HOLD the power button for a second and then tap the HOME button. Or try method #2.
You can take screenshots without root on all ICS devices.
Very true! That’s why I show both methods here. The HTC method and the ICS method. In case one method doesn’t work, they can try the other…
Yay. Just tried it! thx for share!!!
No problem! Glad it worked for you. 🙂
Had you actually tried Method 2 on a One X before suggesting it? On mine Power + VolDown forces a reboot.
Yes, both methods have been reported to work. That is why we go ahead and show you both. Stick with the method that works for you. If one of the above doesn’t work, then try the other method. Nice and easy.
Down & Home worked for me on my one x

And, to All, the HTX One X is my first Smartphone and I just love it! I hope it does not change in style, size of screen, etc., I know technology gets more advanced, but leave the look of it alone. Suggestion, would like to maybe be able to open it instead of being sealed? Cordelia

Perfect thank you! It’s funny because I did it once on accident and was shocked but could never figure out how to do it again.
I did it on accident too, and spent DAYS trying intensely to figure out how I had done it, then weeks passively trying to figure it out, fruitlessly, until now. Thank you! 🙂

These methods may work on the HTC One X, but it doesn’t work on HTC One X Plus. Anybody know how to do a screen shot on HTC One X Plus? I can’t find a site that pertains to this version, so I keep clicking on links for HTC One X in hopes that they’ll mention “X Plus”.
Thank you so much for the tip! It works for me everytime! i didnt want to get rid of my iphone because it had this feature but i did anyway and now i am glad i did!!! thank you again its the little things 🙂
