The dedicated group of devs at Team TouchDroid have just made porting Android over to the HP TouchPad one step closer to becoming a reality! Porting over Android to a device that was designed for the WebOS platform is no easy task. But Team TouchDroid is hard at work hacking away at the code trying to get all the Android drivers to work properly with the HP hardware. Well, today they’ve gotten one step closer by getting the Touchscreen drivers to work! Yes, the TouchPad is now running Android 2.3.5 with a functioning Touchscreen drivers! While it’s still not a fully functional Android port it is still quite a feat!
It is only a matter of time before they get a working version available for those of you lucky enough to have picked up an HP TouchPad for $99 during the discount fire sale a few weeks ago [Related Link]. We’ll keep an eye out for more news relating to the HP TouchDroid as it becomes available. Check out some of the links below for more information and for a video demonstration of the HP TouchPad running Android 2.3.5.
